Computer technology and the internet are revolutionizing the way educators instruct students. These twentieth century advances used properly make our lives more efficient, and in turn they can help educators deliver curriculum more proficiently.

Educators need to realize that todays student is more comfortable typing up a paragraph on the computer rather than writing it on a piece of paper. These students have had technology and the internet in their lives since they can remember and they are very comfortable using it. Many educators on the other hand do remember a time when technology and the internet were not a part of everyday life.

These educators need to become part of the technology revolution in order to be able to integrate education technology into their classrooms. Blogging, web design, video conferencing and joining online communities are just some of the ways educators can become more familiar with the internet and technology era. We can learn from students who are not born knowing how to navigate through the internet or use all the technological gadgets, they simply learn by playing around with technology and by trial and error. Blu-ray is a new optical disc standard based on the use of a blue laser rather than the red laser of dvd players. It is not just a format for high-definition video and audio, it's a higher-capacity disc format. This format is currently supported by more than 180 of the world's leading consumer electronics, personal computer, recording media, video game and music companies.

Blu-ray players capable of showing picture-in-picture - a feature called "bonus view" - have only just started to appear. The discs will not play on current cd and dvd players, because they lack the blue-violet laser required to read them. The disc players (BDPs) are available from a number of manufacturers, including Panasonic, Pioneer, Samsung and Sony.

Sony led the fight for blu-ray dvd players. Sony is a rare company that may actually benefit from it's success, mainly because higher production of the players could reduce component costs for the playStation 3, driving improved profitability for Sony's all-important video-game unit. Also adding to the momentum was the gradual increase in sales of Sony's playStation 3 home video-game console, which also works as a blu-ray player.

Blu-ray delivers crisp, clear high-definition pictures and sound, which are more detailed and vivid than existing video technology. Like the rewritable dvd formats, blu-ray uses phase change technology to enable repeated writing to the disc. It has has already won backing from major Hollywood studios, such as MGM Studios, Disney, and Buena Vista,as well as top technology firms like Dell, LG, Samsung and Phillips amongst others. But the absolutely genius part about Sony putting PS3 games on blu-ray disk (and they know this and planned it all along) means that the disk production ramped up very quickly to high volumes, thus softening the blow of the higher manufacturing costs of the new technology. Although the disc specification has been finalized, engineers continue working to advance the technology.

The next generation of dvds will hold high-definition video and sound. Likewise, consoles rely on single discs, so dvds that can hold six times more data mean much better,high-resolution games. Basically, blu-ray is a newer format of dvd with superior visual quality and storage space compared with standard dvds. While it is not compulsory for manufacturers, the Blu-ray Disc Association recommends that the disc drives should be capable of reading standard dvds for backward compatibility.

Entertainment decided to release movie discs only in the blu-ray format, joining Sony Pictures and Walt Disney Co. Blu-ray is the next-generation digital video disc. The next-generation dvd format blu-ray is winning more supporters than its rival, according to its backers. Just a few short weeks into 2008, blu-ray is now the dominant player in the game.

There once was a time when you would hear a song and immediately be taken in by the poetical pictures the songwriter created. The great poets and lyricists like Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, Justin Hayward, James Taylor and many others, seem to be a dying breed. Listening to music nowadays, you'd be hard-pressed to hear any artists that believe lyricism is an art form. Yes, the words usually rhyme and have a semblance of meaning, but for the most part, words are thrown together just for the SAKE of rhyming. With the explosion of internet radio and music sites and armed with an inexpensive digital recorder, anyone can upload their music, regardless of the musical ability they may or may not possess. And with all the millions of songs flooding the net, originality has taken a back seat to being seen and heard. It's as if independent music sites are nothing more than blog sites. They are certainly becoming one and the same. Anyone can have an opinion and it seems that anyone can upload their music today. Right or wrong. Good or bad.

But there is some hope! I happened upon yet another site that promotes independent/unsigned artists and much to my surprise, I found a few of artists who were not only great songwriters, but they were artists that I would call bona fide poets. The songs that really made me feel and think the most were those of Jerald Wolf. His first solo CD entitled "Winter's Emptiness" is an emotional journey of heart-felt songs that are deeply thoughtful and a well textured mix of acoustica nd electric. The first song I listened to was "You're Gone". I was immediately taken in by the descriptive words and hypnotic tune. The opening lines are:

"Last night when I called you, you were gone;
Gone back to a place you once called home.
You went trying to find the pieces of yesterday's life;
Trying to find somewhere to call your own."

From that point, I clung to every word. Jerald Wolf has a diverse and rich voice, full of emotional colors. The twelve song CD "Winter's Emptiness" is the emerging of a new songwriter/poet. The songs are as poetical as they are raw and sometimes cold. A great CD in all respects.
Other new songwriters/poets to watch for are Anne Davis with her "Temple Of Contradictions", V.K. Lynnes' "Black Halo" and Deron Wade with his CD, "Somewhere Out There". These three artists also show signs of being the next generation of the poet/songwriter. We will always have Bob Dylan and Arlo Guthrie, but it's refreshing to hear artists like Jerald Wolf, Anne Davis, V.K. Lynne and Deron Wade and to know that true talent exists outside of the major labels.

Today, anyone can give an opinion or have their music on the internet, but there are only some that desreve to be heard.

5 of the Most Violent Video Games

5. Mortal Kombat

The one that started it all. While it may seem pixelated and dated now, it was undoubtedly the most violent video game of its time. Spawning a huge fanbase, a movie, and a plethora of sequels, most of us have probably played Mortal Kombat in at least one form of another.

Who can forget pulling in a victim with Scorpions snapping beak; "Get over here!" while following it up with a gruesome uppercut. The game used real life actors and mapped their faces onto sprites, creating a pretty strange yet realistic effect which made it all the more awesome when Sub Zero ripped someones head off, leaving their spine dangling below. Fatality!

4. Carmageddon

Originally released in 1997, this is an oldie but goldie. It's still a thoroughly enjoyable game and was a breakthrough in its time with video scenes from inside the car and real world physics.

Think Mad Max on steroids and you'll start to get a feel for Carmageddon which is set in a post apocalyptic world where the car rules. The idea is to race against a handful of other modified death cars through various levels, including deserts, industrial areas and populated cities, all to the tune of Fear Factories Demanufacture album (hell yes!). However, if you don't feel like racing you can hunt down and destroy your enemies one by one until you're the only survivor. Amongst all this, not only can you run over pedestrians, but you're actively encouraged to do so, gaining extra time and credits for combo bonuses and "artist impressions" (which you get by utterly mangling a pedestrian).

Carmageddon caused media scandal when it first launched and in most countries a "safe" version was released with zombies, robots or aliens instead of people. In some countries the game was banned completely. None of this stops it from being an absolute classic and the first go-anywhere 3D driving game which spawned 2 successful sequels.

3. Thrill Kill

Originally called S & M for Slaughter and Mutilation, Thrill Kill for PlayStation was never released, it was axed 2 weeks before it was due to go out. EA said that they didn't want to "publish such a senselessly violent game" and stated it was so offensive that they wouldn't sell the game to another publisher either. Fortunately for us former employees of EA released it onto the internet which are still available.

Incredibly simple, Thrill Kill consisted of only a single room where up to 4 opponents fight to the death. The usual life bar is replaced with a kill meter, which grows as you do more damage to your opponent, eventually you're able to activate Thrill Kills which were always awesomely brutal, sometimes sexual, moves like dismemberment, mutilation, cattle prods down the throat or crushing skulls with stilts. Oh yes. One of Cleetus' lethal finishing moves was to tear the head off his opponent and drink the blood that leaked out of his victim's severed neck. The story goes that the 8 characters all led devious lives and died in various ways, have gone to hell. A modern day hell which reflects todays real life. Marukka, the God of Secrets has pitted them against each other, promising to give rebirth to the one survivor. Each character is battling for self-preservation and the hope to be born again.

Cleetus, for example, is a redneck cannibal. The only victim that he didn't eat escaped minus a leg, which Cleetus carries around for good luck (and occasionally uses as a weapon).
Dr. Faustus, a master surgeon, died from an infection after installing his stainless steel jaws, made from a bear trap.

Oddball was a top FBI agent who hunted down serial killers. He began to admire them and slowly slipped into insanity. Oddball is extremely intelligent, cunning, and without remorse. Pity, sympathy, and compassion have no meaning to him. Although his arms are bound in his cozy little straight jacket, he has learned to adapt, as any good predator should.

2. Postal 2

One feature in Postal 2 is the ability to pick up cats as an inventory item. When used, the player shoves the barrel of the currently equipped firearm into the cat's anus, as a 'silencer'. Every time a shot is fired, the cat meows in apparent agony, and the gunshot is muffled. After several shots the cat will be killed and will fly from the end of the weapon.

Any game where you can use a cat as a silencer has to be worth mentioning. Highly violent, both Postal and Postal 2 met with much protest from various activist groups. However, the Running With Scissors software company who created the series responded by saying that the amount of violence in the game is entirely dependent upon the player. In fact, it's actually possible (though very difficult) to complete the entire game without harming anyone.

The game is split from Monday to Friday and the tasks are simple things on a to-do list like 'Cash Paycheck', 'Confess sins', 'Get milk', etc. To accomplish these seemingly simple tasks, the player can chose to be peaceful or utterly, all out violent with unique gameplay changes for each choice.Some violent features include the ability to decapitate people with shovels, and then kick their heads around or play fetch with a dog, cops who beat innocent NPCs to death with batons, even if the NPC surrenders and begs for mercy and setting fire to people with gasoline, matches, napalm and moltov cocktails.Not content with just being violent, Postal 2 is also pretty disgusting. You have the ability to urinate on people, causing them to vomit in disgust. You can also urinate on food items which are then eaten and regurgitated by cops. Using an Antrhax-filled cow's head as a weapon causes victims to vomit blood. Oh and you can also stun gun people til they cower in fear and urinate themselves..Featuring ATF, SWAT, the National Guard, psycho butchers, religious cults, the Taliban and Gary Coleman, Postal 2 has earned itself a violent and revolting reputation and is illegal in at least 3 countries.

1. Manhunt

Quite possibly the most violent game in the list, Manhunt revolves around James Earl Cash who has been sentenced to death by lethal injection. His injection is replaced with a sedative and Cash is abducted by a wealthy Hollywood director. The director has a thing for Snuff flicks and sets up Cash as his latest star, butchering local gangs on film in the most violent and horrific ways possible.

The director communicates with Cash via an earpiece and security cameras record his murders. For extra points the player must carry out more gruesome kills. These range from suffocation by plastic bag, decapitation, jamming a crowbar in the enemys skull, etc.

Manhunt was banned outright in several countries when it was launched and later in the UK the game was linked to an actual murder case of a 14 year old, Stefan Pakeerah by a 17 year old, Warren Leblanc. Stefans mother claimed that Leblanc had been obsessed with Manhunt after he pleaded guilty in court and as such most vendors in the UK removed Manhunt from their stocks. This led to a significant increased demand from other retailers and internet auction sites. Police denied any link, but it still strikes a chilling cord. Especially when you consider that Leblanc murdered his friend by stabbing him with a claw hammer, identical to an execution shown in Manhunt.

Breakdown of the NBA Finals from a Bettors Perspective

The 2007 NBA finals will be great for sports investors, although it will go against many of the traditional rules weekend warrior bettors may be used to.

To start, large spreads are usually indicative of large market teams. The spread for game one Cle@SA is 7.5 points with the home team favored. Considering the finals are a showdown between the final survivors of each conference, 7.5 points is monumental.

Lets take a look at reason why SA may cover this spread.

1) They are considered the better team and easily have the better pedigree. SA, led by Tim Duncan who is widely considered a top 10 NBA player (if not higher) leads a team of savvy veterans who have been there, done that. Yet, they do not hold the same swagger other dynasties have (and yes, in todays day and age the Spurs are as much of a dynasty as the Patriots). In fact, since they are often ignored, they continue to play the game hard, as if they have a chip on their collective shoulders. This team never gives an inch, and takes every facet of the game seriously.

2) Its early in the series, and though an older team, they have had ample rest since defeating Utah to recuperate. Add to the fact that Cle has just come off a grueling series, and not just physically, but mentally. 2 losses by 3 points. One double overtime. And now all the hype surrounding them. That type of media and fan frenzy can wear down any team, but is even more the case when it comes to a younger team like the Cavs.

3) Beyond Duncan, they have a series of players who consistently show up in big games. Sometimes their heroics are staggered between them, but often times they show up all together. Duncan can have a bad game and hit a double-double, but it will be Parker, Ginobili, Bowen, Finley, Horry and the rest of the crew that simply will continue to pour it on. How many times has any one of those guys come through for their team? The bottom line, if any one of them is on their game, 7.5 points is a cake spread.

4) This is the finals, there is no need to conserve any more energy. SA saw what the rest of the world did, that the Cavs can play defense, rebound, and score in bunches when needed. And even moreso, they never give up. Teams like that are dangerous to stick around and the leadership and staff in SA will not make such a mistake.

Now, before you rush out and place your wagers though, lets look at reasons why Cle will beat the spread.

1) 7.5 points is a lot of points. Especially against a team playing full of confidence and was just crowned the Kings of the East. During the regular season, Cle easily beat this spread in fact, they beat SA straight up, both at home and on the road. In those 2 games they were 5.5 and 3.5 point underdogs.

2) LeBron is LeBron. When was the last time he had a bad game? This means that many kids will see the game console and their eyes will light up like fireworks. Well, the same thing is going to happen again this year. On November 17th, 2006, the Playstation 3 is going to hit stores everywhere. That means electronic stores all throughout the US are going to turn into madhouses. Why is that? Well, its a little thing called supply and demand. It wouldn't be that big a deal if there was plenty of Playstation 3s to go around, but sadly that is not the case and there is going to be far fewer console systems than people. A low amount of gaming systems and a high amount of needy customers always yields the same result, and that result is not good.

After all, the same thing happened with the XBOX 360 last November, short supply and high demand. Even though that system cost $400, it didn't stop people from getting in line to buy one. Even if that line was 2 to 3 blocks long. Well, the Playstation 3 is priced at $600 and there is no doubt that the same scenario will ensue, if not a worse one.

If you feel that you need to get a PS3, then you undoubtedly want to get on a pre-order list as fast as possible. However, there is a problem with that task. The Playstation 3 release is only about a month away from release, and since the release of this colossal gaming system has been known by gamers for several months now, it may be too late.

It "may" be too late because it is only a few weeks away from the release of the Playstation 3, which means many store pre-order lists are already going to be filled to the brim. Thats not to say you won't get a PS3 on November 17th, but getting one without being on a pre-order list is one heck of an accomplishment, and to some a nearly impossible feat. Besides that, every day that you waste just "thinking" about getting on a pre-order list means you're that much farther away from actually obtaining a Playstation 3. The faster you act, the more chances you have.

So what can be done to get on a list? Plenty! Just because there are lots of people who want a Playstation 3, does not mean that every pre-order list is going to be full. In order to get a PS3 on the release date, you are going to have to ask around at quite a few different stores. Obviously, your going to ask the basic questions, such as "Are you selling Playstation 3s?", "Do you have a Pre-order list?", "How many people are on the list before me?", etc. But, many people fail to ask the other important questions, like: "How many PS3s shipments are you going to receive this month? What about next month?" and "When is your next Playstation 3 shipment?". Yeah, its true that not all stores will give out that specific information, but there is going be plenty of stores that will gladly give you any and all information you need.

If you do get on a pre-order list, don't stop there. The more lists you are on, the more chance you have of obtaining a PS3 on release day, or before Christmas (which is the goal of most). Although, they are called "pre-order" lists, that doesn't necessarily mean that the lists will vanish after the release day. Most of these lists will last until Christmas, and/or usually a month or two after. If people drop off the list, or do not have the money to buy the PS3 when their "time" is called, they move down and you move up. Enough drop-outs on a list and you might even get a PS3 sooner than you expected.

Theres no doubt about it, its going to be a hectic day for stores and shoppers on November 17th, 2006. But if you take precautions and do a bit of research, the joys of a Playstation 3 will undoubtedly be yours on its launch date. So what is this strategy game with a name I can't pronounce? Dai Senryaku VII is a turn-based strategy game on a hexagonal grid for the Xbox that is imported from Japan. Before that worries you, it is all in English, in fact, besides the title, you wouldn't even know it was produced outside of the U.S. Dai Senryaku VII (abbreviated as DS7 for both our sakes) offers a very in-depth look at modern military conflict that is extremely satisfying. Even though it is for an aging system and won't be found in any stores offline, DS7 is definitely worth checking out.

DS7 lets you play as one of eight nations' modern militaries, with a total of over 400 different, real-world units to select from. Ranging from infantry, tanks, artillery, fighters, aircraft carriers, and many other types, it's easy to find the unit balance that fits the map being played and your play style. Units are produced (in free-play mode) only in proximity to one's Headquarters, with ships being built in ports and aircraft in airports. Each nation is presented realistically, which means that the U.S. and Russia will have better units than Japan or France, but it will cost them in deployment expenses. Logistics must also be managed, and supply trucks, ships, and tanker aircraft are vital in long-range fighting. Combat also takes place at different altitudes, with aircraft flying high, helicopters skimming the surface, troops on the ground, ships on the water, and submarines under it. Most units also carry several different weapons. A light helicopter may only carry machine guns, aircraft will have several types of missiles, ships will have a variety of weapons, and even infantry can carry anti-tank rockets, SAMs, and mortars. Between the campaign, free-play, and a map editor, you won't get bored quickly. I highly suggest Dai Senryaku VII as one of the very few strategy games for the Xbox.

Some could argue that the downfall of John Lennon came when he met Yoko Ono. After the releases of Two Virgins and Life With Lions, the somewhat controversial and humour enticing albums, (both within a year of each other), the future career of Lennon seemed lacking in all the speciality of The Beatles. Even Lennon was seen to be doubtful in his departure from the band. He married Yoko on the 20th of March 1969 which was then followed by the infamous 8 day peace protest in bed as their honeymoon. The Plastic Ono Band album was released almost immediately after The Beatles split officially in May 1970, yet the final Let It Be, The Beatles swansong wasnt released until after this date.

Moving to New York in September 1971, he released the album, Imagine only a month later after his departure from England. It wasnt long until immigration almost successfully got him packing his bags and heading home. Splitting from Yoko for about a year later, he went out on several heavy drinking sessions with old friend and known alcoholic, Harry Nilsoon. Together they recorded the album, Pussy Cats, sadly I cant find a listing for this anywhere as a chart entry here or over there. Eventually allowed his green card after Sean was born, he retreated from the music industry to be alone with his new family. Putting the lid down on his piano and closing the guitar case, he seemed to have found his perfect home. On the brink of a come back with the signing of a music contract, the future seemed bright for the Lennon family until the fatal meeting with Mark Chapman where he shot Lennon out side his home on the 8th of December 1980.

We take a look at one of the compilations that has graced our record shops since his death. It would appear that on every anniversary of birth or death, an album has followed featuring his best known music from his solo career. This is one of them

Imagine theres no Heaven, its easy if you try.. First released in November 1975, it went straight to number one. Again issued in December 1988 and then again in December 1999, in total, it sold over a million copies, but still, the simplicity of this track was always destined to be one of the great anthems in human history whether he was still with us or not. The hands make very little movement across the keys and with a video piece in just the same vein, they are as uniquely powerful as each other. The essentialism is within the opening piano chords. Lennon was not the greatest singer, in fact, straining his poor voice in early Beatle recordings was not unusual. (The song, Twist And Shout, always had to be left until the end of a show due to the anxiety it would have on his vocal chords.) He was primarily a poet, a collector or words, creating images for the heart and for the soul of his listeners. As Dylan as his constant musical guide in his head, Lennon was, it could be said, imitating the legendary folk singer, but naturally what shone through and essentially what we connected to was the person who enlightened us from within John. Love or loathe The Beatles, one cane listen to Imagine and feel something. Whether it is thoughts for our own families and children or the world as a whole, this song is very much affective and will remain so for generations to come. The tragedy of this heart dominating piece of humanitarism, is that the song is forever remembered, but the words have long been forgotten

Instant Karma is the second track on this compilation album. It has to be said that one is struck by the extent of the love that John shared with Yoko, not just for each other but for their dedication to the projects that they had together. Flicking through the sleeve, we notice that the simple black and white photography is relaxed and we feel welcomed into their world. The twenty tracks are performed by John but mostly by The Plastic Ono Band which on many occasions incorporated some well respected musicians including Klaus Voorman (the German friend from the days of Hamburg who designed the Revolver album for The Beatles) and Eric Clapton. One is also struck by not just the political strengths of this man but his diversity within his music. We shift from grief stricken soul to folk, pop and rock and roll, Lennons first being the latter. It was released February 1970, reaching number 5.

This track, I wonder is probably more autobiographical than a political statement. The extent of this track musically throws out to its audience the same crowd-filling-a -room feeling as Give Peace A Chance. A lot of hand clapping and a cast of thousands fill our ears. These tracks are primitive in their recordings in following the Ono/Lennon theme of musicians jamming a song rather than playing it in a studio situation. A mumbled counting in at the intro gives the full feeling of a song almost made up as they went along. I felt, lyrically, it was a personal dig at his shallowed emotion from being the star of The Beatles. One gets the impression that Lennon, after leaving the band, spent the rest of his life reflecting and analysing his former existence.

Mother, is very definitely a self therapy track that was actually spawned by some sessions with a certain Dr Janov. It is crucially a very personal track and once the words have been digested by the listener, it feels as thought we are encroaching on something so intensely intimate that its is like extreme intrusion. The opening line may bring a lump to the throat; ..mother, you had me, but I never had you I wanted you but you didnt want me is an incredibly disturbing statement for a child to make to its mother. Another line isfather you left me, but I never left you If we knew a small fraction of Lennons upbringing, we would know that he was abandoned by his father, whom in twenty years of Johns life, he only saw him twice. Also brought up by his mothers sister, Mimi, so with this information in hand, it is a painful ballad about ones parents to bear, even from the voice of a grown man. Released in December 1970, it failed to enter a chart.

Another self analysis mark of Lennons life is portrayed in the beautifully gentle, Jealous Guy. Whilst hitting the bottle in a suicidal fashion at the temporary break from Ono, this simply tuned song offers a touching and affectionate plea for his lost one. For a man to open up his inner most feelings surely is a mark of dignity and strength. We see the sensitive side of Lennon, a side not seen whilst a foul mouthed, bad tempered Beatle. In this violin complemented ballad, we can surely be thankful for the presence of Yoko in his life. If not, he would never have penned such poetry. Released in November 1985, but failed to get any higher than number 65..

Power to The People, is back to the chanting, peace seeking days of the strong Lennon/Ono union. Again, a marching demonstration song easily shouted from the roof tops in great chorus. Yet with its anti war themes of such poignancy, I can only think of Citizen Smith shouting from outside Tooting tube stationUnlike Smith, Lennon found himself on many occasions being labelled as part of Americas radical left. Released as a single in March 1971, it managed a fairly decent number 7.

Cold Turkey, may have had all the signs of a drug addiction track but it was actually directed at the governments from both side of the pond. At the release of this track, it was at the same time as Lennon handing back his M.B.E to the Queen. Naturally, the timing for Lennon was appalling and the single flopped. A fairly mediocre rock track by Johns standards, it does not help with the cries and wails of his voice towards the end. Deeply analytical and self opposed, it denotes a less than happy time in his life. Released in November 1969, it reached a weak number 14, despite its surrounding situations.

Love, is again a personal reflection on the love in his life and the love lost from his parents. He describes love is wanting o be loved.. I feel with these tracks that it is Lennons attempt to quite openly bare his soul. We, the majority, only accept the musical quality of the sturdy piano and ever so soft acoustic guitar. Perhaps it is because we dont know how to deal with someone elses instantly personal feelings Released November 1982, it reached only number 41.

Mind Games, is a whining track that may get on ones nerves after too many listens. I do believe that John took his music too far sometimes in the respect of his introverted perspective view on the world. Being so disillusioned with the leading heads of state from both sides, he became withdrawn in his ideas, far beyond anyones comprehension, these were strange, avant garde pieces for his own personal benefit. Lennon totally looses himself in the immensely droning and brain washing theme of this song. I do believe he forgets, that there are people, in the future, out there who will be listening to thisA fairly awful song, it was surprisingly released as a single in November 1973 and got an average number 26.

Whatever Gets You Through The Night, is a jolly, happy clappy song that takes on a sudden change of theme from the rest of the album. It says, hey, forget everything I just said, its okay, whatever you fancy, gets you going, floats your boat, just do it.. Gone briefly are the overly emotional, 3-in-the-morning analysis of the plight of the world. We are awoken to this disco/party track to jump up and down and forget about lifes troubles.. Im all for that Released in October 1974, only to struggle to number 36.

#9 Dream is what the title suggests. A dream state created by the distorted, drifting vocals of Lennon with slight Sgt. Pepper instruments. Floating violins, whispers and taps on tambourines have us swimming down a slow moving stream in the afternoon sun. Again, a track that probably held a deeper meaning for Lennon and Ono rather than the listener, who thought, hey, this is cool.. Its tracks like these that were wasted on us public.. Released in February 1975, it managed number 23.

Stand By Me.. id the only track on this extensive album that is not written by Lennon. A classic track written for Ben. E. King by the ever legendary songwriters, King, Leiber and Stoller; the men who were responsible for some of the greatest rock and roll songs ever recorded. Lennons love for rock and roll was widely known. He later blamed Elvis for seducing him into creating his own band.. This was not a well liked cover but it still stands well with Lennons own backing track and vocal range. Although not his song, he had the ability to take such a song and create it as his own. Adding a croaky vocal and heavier guitars allowed him to do this.. Released May 1975, it failed to get any higher than number 30.

(Just Like) Starting Over was the ironic record which shot to number one a month after his death in 1980. A quivering rock and roll moment and somewhat retro aiming at the Teddy Bear re run moving through the younger set of the day. Its popularity stemmed from Lennons untimely death. The starting over theme personally related to his life re born with Yoko and Sean, their son. It was some what a macabre anthem in the feeling of life after death and the strengths his record selling abilities after his passing.

Woman, finds us soothing over with the gentleness and humbly inspiring themes of his obvious relationship with Yoko and some may say, the respect he had for his mother whom he had loved with equal tenderness. It is a sensitive tribute to any woman from a man feeling failed in his adoration for her. An emotional piece with just as much feeling musically as in the lyrics Released January 1981, shot to number one.

Beautiful Boy, has the same tenderness as the previous track but now, more focused on the birth of Sean. Much a piece picked on by the media, they highlighted the pushed-aside Julian who had been almost rejected in his earlier life by his father, Lennon, and had been the subject of Hey Jude, by McCartney. This had been written several years before as an arm around the shoulder comforter to Julian after the break up of Lennons first marriage to his mother, Sylvia. Beautiful Boy, features the lyric, life is what happens to you while you busy making other plans.. A sweet song completed with the tinkling tune denoting a childrens music box in this swaying nursery lullaby. Never released as a single.

Watching The Wheels, follows and the nest four tracks take the tempo up a little. This song is particular lifting musically, but yet, still very middle of the road by today standards. Even though the subject remains with its element of struggle in life and the man coming to terms with his own complicated mind, his mood seems more optimistic and on an even keel. His mood always was heavily reflected in his music. Like many of us waking up knowing were going to have a bad day, I guess Lennon felt much the same thing musically Released April 1981, reaching number 30.

Nobody Told Me, is one of my favourite Lennon tracks from his solo career. Yet again, it is a stab at the human race but somehow tongue n cheek. A song for a day that isnt going so well, a song that I have in my head most days! There is a great deal of electric guitar playing a looped riff on a melodic theme and percussion that lifts the track to a foot tapping, skipping down the road effect from a happier Lennon. Released January 1984, to a fairly impressive number 6.

Borrowed Time, is a little on the new wave, Ziggy theme with its abstract Level 42 riff and its fading in and out lyrics. I wonder if this may have been the way forward for him, if he had still been alive. Its fundamental basis is a calypso style for a summers day on a Jamaican beach. Lennon delights us in his won vocal percussion. An unusual turn for the rock and roll head strong artist and a refreshing approach for the listener. It prides us into an understanding that Lennon could lift our spirits with open and future forward thinking themes as well as the gut wrenching ballads that have us reaching for razor blades. Lennon enjoyed all music and could adjust his uniqueness to even such foreign and unravelled paths of sounds such as calypso I just wish I could roll my Rs like he could Released March 1984, only to number 32.

Working Class Hero, will have us throwing away our bongos and reaching for that bathroom cabinet door. This was the titled that labelled Lennon from his death and beyond. In this track, he reaches out to another hero of his, Bob Dylan. With acoustic guitar and minus a harmonica, he extends his talents to hard minded folk music. He falls to the very depths of personal humanity lyrically and the very struggle faced by millions just to go and earn a crust. A cold, truthful legacy to the working class, which is all of usIt was the B side to Imagine in 1975.

Happy Xmas (War Is Over,) was admittedly, his greatest anti war, anti government chant which only became famously known after his death. Unfortunately, it took seven shots in his chest to make us sit up and listen. The one disadvantage of this track is that we can hear Yoko singing, of course, she couldnt sing a note, so for this, it is amusing. The other down side is a personal one and it reminds me of Christmases of years ago with the family. With all the spangle and droopy tinsel of all that is festive, it will always be tinged with the tragedy of Lennons death. It is a song that will may the listener feel humble and sorrowful for perhaps not appreciating the man when he was still alive. On any account, I do find this song very depressing. Released in December 1972 to number 2 then again in December 2003 but only reaching number 33.

Our last track is Give Peace A Chance and we have gone full circle in his career within this album. Released as a single in July 1969 and recorded at the famous bed in with all sorts of hangers on, musicians, drop outs, press and intellectuals, one can almost smell the mustiness of the unwashed bedclothes and the sweatiness of the enormous crowd huddled into the small hotel room. Don a bed sheet and a guitar and invite a few hundred of your closest acquaintances round for a chanting session. Youll find this track enlightening, spirit lifting, soul soaring and it will make you want to sway with arms and legs and sing to the top of your voice. The words are simple and effortless and very much Lennons finest moment. In my mind, he could have started and finished his career with the very release of this record and this one only. The rest of the songs could all have been recorded but perhaps left to one side for his own personal therapy and reflection. I believe the real tragedy was not the fatal introduction of Mark Chapman, but his career, his music and his thoughtful words, wasted on the shallow human race

Violent and troubled in his youth, he found self assurance and peace in age. His power was sometimes immeasurable. During the 8 day bed in, he and Ono had boards erected across the world in 12 cities campaigning against the Vietnam war.

On the 28th of November 1974, he made his final public appearance in concert at Madison Square Garden.

Before they came out with the DS version of Super Mario 64 I hadn't played this game in years! To see and play it again was a huge "blast from the past" for me, along with tons of great memories. On the Nintendo 64 I never got to finish the game, so when I got the DS version I was so excited!

Control is much easier with the DS stylus instead of a small, joystick type object like on the Nintendo 64 controller. I didn't think that a stylus would give you the same feel for the game that we're used to, but so help me, it does. With this being a portable game, you can take Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Wario with you wherever you go, instead of only being able to sit at home in front of the TV. With bright colors and screen of the DS, Mario and his friends seem to almost come to life right in front of your eyes!

The game's graphics are totally awesome, and the sound and sound effects are wonderful! The game has, I believe, 50 or so More stars than the original game! Plus, tons of mini games you can play by catching rabbits in the various levels of the castle! With the various levels, comes unique, and sometimes difficult opponents! With tasks like, chasing underwater creatures to a high flying journey through the sky, to solving the endless stairway, to get those needed stars to defeat Bowser, Super Mario 64 for the DS is a fun game for any gamer!
